Art Auction

Week 10-17 November 2018
Fire & Frost Art Gallery, 107  Harley Road, Tasman
Last year the Tasman School Art Auction took on a new and exciting format! We held an Exhibition Week at Darryl Frost’s Gallery, Fire & Frost, followed by an entertaining Art Auction Evening with Matt Lawrey as MC (Nelson City Councillor), Liam Boshoff Auctioneer (Summit, Nelson), complimentary local wine, canapes provided by Jester House, cash bar and lots of fun!

We secured artworks from highly sought after Nelson Artists who are very well known throughout New Zealand, along with artwork from some amazing emerging artists, who deserve show casing. There will be a great variety of art including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, paintings, photography, sculpture, textiles and weaving.

There was a Silent Auction running throughout the Exhibition Week which will close just before the Live Auction on the 17th. Bidding will be run through an online bidding system. Approximately 15/20 pieces will be chosen for the Live Auction. Phone bidding will be available for those whocannot make it to the Live Auction.

Artist Wins – this is a fantastic chance to promote themselves to a wide audience and become part of a great biennial event.

Bidder Wins – lovely art for their home or business along with a fun evening.

Tasman School Wins – all funds raised will go towards inspiring and educating our children to explore and discover the  world of art. The Arts (New Zealand Curriculum).
Lloyd Harwood - 'The Navigator’, auctioned 2017.
Sue Newitt, green glaze bowl, auctioned 2015.

All auction artwork will be on display during the Exhibition Week. This will be open to the public, where anyone can register themselves, and place a silent bid through our online bidding software. All pieces will have a Pre-Sale Estimate on display. There will be a minimum first bid, and bidding will rise in increments allocated to the piece. Silent Auction Bidding will close 10/15 minutes before the Live Auction begins. Three/four pieces will not be available for Silent Auction Bidding, but will be on display, and will be auction at the Live Auction.

This is a ticketed event, with a limited amount of tickets on sale from early September, free to contributing artists! The Live Auction will include approximately 15/20 pieces, of which, three/four will be feature pieces that are reserved for the Live Auction only and will not be available for online bidding. There will be around 15 pieces from the Silent Auction that will transition into the Live Auction. The Silent Auction will be closed 10/15 minutes before the Live Auction begins. Phone bidding will be available for the Live Auction by prior arrangement. (more information to come soon).
